A Country Girl, I am Not

One of my oldest friends, Laura, recently bought a farm and then the house that is adjacent to it. They closed this week, and she invited us out to do a walk through on the house and I hadn’t been out to the farm yet.. and for good reason. Keep me within the city limits, please!

Chickens.. and birds in general, scare the absolute crap out of me.. Even with this fence in between us. It’s like they can look into your soul and darken it. And then one of Rebecca’s girls got pecked. NOPE.  RandChickens

If only I had video of Hubs taunting these flipping birds.  chickens But Laura so graciously let me pick some goodies out of her garden and I was grateful… especially on the size of that squash.  veggies I also enjoy riding in gators.. so, I guess I could get into that aspect of farming.  gator I’ve always wanted a garden, but have no idea how to go about starting one. Anyone have any tips?

  1. We have a little “garden” and are growing tomatoes, bell peppers, and banana peppers. We have them in pots on our back deck. I suggest starting small with maybe an herb garden (LOVE fresh rosemary!) and tomato plant and go from there! There is nothing better than a fresh tomato sandwich during the summer in the south!

  2. I’m a total country girl BUT I don’t have anything to do with chickens. They are evil animals in my opinion!
