Today is April 27th. Which means, it’s been one year since the tornado hit Cullman. Some are still cleaning up, some are rebuilding. I think it’s poetic, that one of the diners in town, that was hit and destroyed will reopen it’s doors in it’s new building today. One of the owners, was actually in the diner when the tornado hit, and survived with a few scratches. Amazing, huh?
So, with the Country Music 1/2 the day after, Kelsie and I wanted to support our town with our race outfits. It came to us on an evening run, after we saw someone running out of a building like he stole something.
Matching tempos, purple shirts, and a purple Sparkly Soul band.
One of my favorite verses is Hebrews 12:1-2, and it’s Kelsie’s as well.
“Run with endurance the race that is set before you.”
We’ve decided we are going to dominate. No excuses. We want the glory of a sub 2:20, which means, shaving 14 minutes off my DC time (Only a month ago!). I’m not sure if it’s possible, but I’d rather go out with a bang. This is the last half for me for 2012, and I don’t think I can live with knowing I didn’t reach my goal because I decided to quit pushing myself because of pain. Our plan is to run the first half at a 9:30 pace and slack off for a 10:30 if needed on the back half. Think it’s possible?
If you have ANY advice, comments, quotes that I can take with me along the way– please pass them along. If you are running it, wave to me, or if you see me passed out somewhere along the course… please pause my Garmin.
“If it feels good, you ain’t doin’ it right!”
I seem to be noticing a trend here… oh my tangent-like blog posts.. I sure hope you enjoy them!
The past 7 days have been a little cray cray for Ray Ray..
We’ve had some family drama (keep it us in your prayers and good thoughts, I’d go into it on the blog, but don’t want to make anyone mad)
Hubs went out of town for the weekend leaving me with both girls, which we were going to have a girls weekend, but then I ended up getting a RIGHTEOUS head cold. I thought my eyes were going to bulge out of my head.
I took Claire to the ENT, he thinks he snotty nose is just from allergies, so she is now on Singulair and a nice nasal swab to help clear it up. We go back next week for further evaluation.
I’ve been working on some new crafty projects, that I plan to share with you in the coming days.
We found out that my Brother in law and sister in law are going to have a baby GIRL! Yay! I have a feeling this one will be another ginger…
I had to run a long run with my head cold… 6 miles. It got easier after 3.5 but it was tough mentally.
I awoke Monday to images of this on my computer screen:
A tornado hit where I grew up. So scary. I’ve talked to my step-mom briefly, she is okay, can’t get out of the neighborhood- they’ve got everything blocked off. I’ve heard there was damage to my elementary school, but I am not sure of the extent. My dad was in Little Rock and is on his way home. Basically, all of my dad’s family lives in either Center Point, Pinson, or Trussville and those areas were hit. My aunt and uncle and cousin live in the neighborhood where that 16 year old girl was killed. They are fine and don’t have any damage. SO thankful that all of my family is okay! On top of that, before the tornado hit, my grandmother fell trying to get into bed and was admitted to the hospital.
Also, Brighthouse- stop sending me e-mails. If I wanted a picture of me doing this, I would have ordered it already.
As 2011 comes to a close, I wanted to look back on the year, and see if I had accomplished my goals that I set out to do. So, I went to my archives posts and realized that I never wrote a goals post for 2011. Cray cray. But, 2011 was a BIG year for me. In every aspect of my life. Let’s reflect shall we? (This is gonna be fun.)
I started and completed a Project 12 (More on this later!).
We took the girls out of school to help pay off some debt– we paid off two credit cards this year, leaving us with only one left!
I reached my goal weight.
We had a tornado rip through our town.
I marked several things off my 30 in 30 list!
I became a FitFluential Ambassador.
And I found out this week that I have been accepted as a Nike Fit Tester. Whoo!
2011 rocked my socks off.
How was your 2011??
I will take my 33:55 time and run with it- and the day I break 30.. I will fist pump and dance across the finish line.
Addy says she wants to run the next one with me.. how do you train a 4 year old? Maybe we should just do the 1 mile fun “walk” or should we man up and do the 5K? It’s July 23rd.
Lumber yard damage.
This is through town… mostly around First Baptist Church.. the side is all beat up because there is a tire store at the end of the block.
